Women's Lacrosse Qualifies For NCAA Championships

After another successful regular season (12-1), the women's lacrosse team was selected for the 26-team NCAA Championship field on Monday. CMS will play a first round game at Cortland State on Wednesday, May 6 at 4:00 pm.

CMS has now qualified for the NCAA Championships three straight years.  Last year, CMS hosted a first round game against Ohio Wesleyan University and won 19-17.  They advanced to play at College of New Jersey losing 12-3.  If they win on Wednesday, they will again play at College of New Jersey.  That game will be on Saturday, May 9 at 11:30.

The team is led by the scoring trio of sophomore Sarah Dick [Beverly, MA] (41 goals), senior Courtney Cronin [Madison, CT] (41 goals) and junior Colbi Brawner [Bainbridge Island, WA] (40 goals). These three combine for over half the team's goals. Junior Devon Scott [Portland, OR] leads the team in assists (17) and draw controls (35). Sophomore Cori Solomon [Washington, DC] leads the team in ground balls (24) and shares the team lead in caused turnovers (15) with Brawner. Cronin is a two-time First Team All-West Region selection while Brawner and Scott were Second Team All-West Region selections last year.

Sarah Queener is the program's winningest coach with 40 career wins vs. only six losses (.897). CMS, now in its seventh varsity season, is 84-22 (.792) all-time.
