Patrick Johnson joins Coach Scalmanini and the Stag basketball program for his second year as an Assistant Coach. Despite not playing basketball in high school while growing up in Atlanta, GA (he was a baseball prospect), Johnson walked on at Duke University as a sophomore and made the squad.  He earned a scholarship by his senior season and played four years for Coach Mike Krzyzewski.  While playing for the Blue Devils, Duke won three ACC Tournament titles and reached the Sweet Sixteen each year including one Final Four appearance.  Johnson graduated from Duke with a B.A. in Political Science.

Johnson moved to Rancho Cucamonga in 2006 and now lives in Claremont with his wife Meaghan. He was an assistant varsity coach and JV head coach at Claremont High School for current Stags assistant Levi Sieg during the 2006-2007 season before being named head coach for the 2007-2008 year. Johnson enters his second year at the high school teaching AP World History and Psychology/Sociology. He is currently working toward his teaching credential and Master's degree in Education at Azusa Pacific University.
