CMS Women's Golf Earns WGCA All-Scholar Team Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team earned All-Scholar Team honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association for the 2021-22 season, the organization announced today.

The WGCA All-Scholar Team award recognizes the women's collegiate golf programs with the highest collective average team GPA of all the team's student-athletes for the 2021-22 season. A total of 25 programs were recognized from the Division I, Division II and Division III levels, as well as the top 10 from the NAIA.

CMS earned a 3.671 team GPA for the past academic year, tying for 15th in Division III with George Fox. Benedictine was first with a 3.866, with Macalaster second with a 3.819, with the 25th-place cutoff for the award (Concordia Texas) carrying a 3.609.

In addition to their success in the classroom, the Athenas also placed ninth on the course, ending up in the top 10 at the NCAA Division III Championships in May. They were one of only six programs to place in the top 15 finalists at the NCAA Championships who also placed in the top 15 academically.

In addition to the team honor, all five Athenas who competed at nationals: Stella Cheng, Tiffany Hu, Irene Jun, Jeissy Lee and Grace Lu, were named to the WGCA All-Academic team as individuals for carrying over a 3.5 GPA.
