Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at First Tournament of 2021-22 Season

Ventura, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team improved by four strokes from its opening round on Monday, but settled for a fifth-place finish at the California State Intercollegiate Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Olivas Links.

CMS finished with a 299 on Tuesday's round, bettering its Tuesday performance of 303, and ended with a team score of +26. George Fox took first place and finished below par as a team at -2, while Pomona-Pitzer was +1 and Redlands was +7. 

Individually, Lauren Fue and Jeissy Lee each had the top round of the day for CMS with 73s, coming in at just one over par. Lee started out the day with birdies on the first two holes, and had four birdies total on the day, while Fue was steady with 15 pars and a birdie in her round. 

The top individual finisher for the Athenas was Tiffany Hu, who shot a 73 yesterday and had a 75 today, ending up tied for 11th in the 59-golfer field. Fue ended up 15th for CMS, while Reina Tain was in the top half of the field by coming in 29th. 

CMS will be back in action this weekend at the Redlands Fall Shootout on Saturday and Sunday, which will take place at The "S" Club in Palm Desert.
