CMS Women's Golf Stands In Third Place after First Round of Bulldog Invitational

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team stands in third place after the first of two rounds at the Bulldog Invitational, hosted by the University of Redlands at the S Club.

The season-opening tournament for the Athenas sees them at +22, 12 shots behind host Redlands and six behind Pomona-Pitzer. Cal Lutheran (+23), Whittier (+24) and UC Santa Cruz (+26) are all in close contention as well heading into tomorrow's final round. 

First-year Grace Lu got off to a strong start to her collegiate career, shooting a 74 to tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard (Taylor Beckwith of Whittier leads at -2). Junior Emily Attiyeh also had a strong opening round, shooting a 75 to stand in a tie for seventh, while sophomore Tiffany Hu is tied for tenth place at 4-over. 

Senior Emma Kang also finds herself in a tie for 12th at the midway point after shooting a 77, while first-year Noelle Song is in the top 20 at +7 to place her 19th. 

The second round of the Bulldog Invitational gets underway tomorrow morning as the Athenas will look to make a move up the leaderboard in its opening 2019-20 tournament.
