Two-sport star Margaret Loncki (CMC '18) and sprinter Tyra Abraham (SC '18) from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps have been nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Emily Attiyeh (CMC '18) and Kelly Ransom (CMC '19) of the 2018 national championship winning Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team have been selected as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The teams were announced on July 3 by the WGCA.

Loncki Named the DIII Honda Award Nominee for Golf

Margaret Loncki, a senior from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, was named the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year nominee for Golf as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.

Loncki Locks Up Player of the Year, Leads Athenas in WGCA Honors

Still reeling from the excitement of the program’s first National Championship, the awards continue to pour in for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team, Individual Champion Margaret Loncki (CMC), and head coach Jodie Burton. Prior to clinching the National Title, Loncki, Emma Kang (CMC), and Mira Yoo (CMC) garnered Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Regional honors and Burton was named West Region Coach of the Year.

Down to the Wire! Athenas Claim Program’s First National Title in Playoff

The short of the story is that the Williams Ephs and CMS Athenas finished the fourth round of the National Championships tied in the team standings at 93-over par and went to a playoff to decide the 2018 Champion. CMS took a lead early in the playoff, but the Ephs stormed back and tied the match, forcing more golf. With the rest of the team already done with their second playoff hole, Margaret Loncki (CMC) stood over a 15-foot par putt on the 18th green that would clinch the National Championship for the Athenas or, with a miss, send CMS and Williams to a third playoff hole.

Strong SCIAC Season Places Five Athenas on All-Conference Teams

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) released the 2018 All-SCIAC teams last week and five Athenas were among the student-athletes honored by the conference. In addition to the five student-athletes honored, head coach Jodie Burton and her staff were recognized as the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Margaret Loncki (CMC) was voted SCIAC Athlete of the year, earning First Team All-SCIAC for the third time in her career and her fourth all-conference nod. She notched individual medalist honors at SCIAC No. 1 and at the SCIAC Championships, and took home second-place at the SCIAC No. 2.

After three days of the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship, the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team is leading the field of 25 teams by four strokes, with a three-day total of 944 strokes (+68). Playing at the par-73, 5,804-yard El Campeon Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort, the Athenas currently hold a four-stroke lead over the second-place, No. 4 Williams Ephs heading to the final round. In the individual standings, Margaret Loncki (CMC) leads the 130-player field by three strokes after posting the low-score of the day with a one-under, 72. Loncki is five-over for the Tournament and is followed by NYU's Navika Kuchakulla (+8) in second-place.

For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.

Margaret Loncki made six birdies on Wednesday and is now tied for first in the individual standings after Day Two.
Halfway Home: Athenas Lead By Five, Loncki Tied For Top

The Athenas created a little bit of breathing room on Day Two of the National Championships with a 25-over, 317 on Wednesday. CMS entered the day tied with the No. 4 Williams Ephs on top of the leaderboard after a Day One, 311 (+19), but bested their playing partners by five strokes to take the lead at the midpoint of the Tournament. After Round Two, the Athenas stand five strokes clear of the Ephs with a total of 628 strokes across the two days compared to 633 from the Ephs. No. 3 New York University (637), No. 10 Carnegie Mellon (639), and No. 1 George Fox (647) round out the top-five in the team race.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team opened the NCAA Division III National Championships on Tuesday morning at the Mission Inn Resort at El Campeón Golf Course. After one round of play, the Athenas are tied for first place with the Williams Ephs with a team total of 19-over, 311. Margaret Loncki (CMC) and Kelly Ransom (CMC) turned in rounds of 77 (+4) on the par-73 course to lead the Athenas on the first day of competition.

The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf begins the four-day National Championships at the Mission Inn Resort at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Athenas will be one of 25 teams in action this week in Central Florida. This year’s field includes the top 11 teams in the country in the most recent Golfstat National Rankings and a total of 15 in the top-25.

Loncki Wins Individual Honors, Athenas Take Second-Straight SCIAC Title

The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team had all but clinched their second-straight SCIAC Championship before Tuesday’s final round even started, holding an 84 stroke lead over second-place Pomona-Pitzer in the chase for the Conference Title. CMS slammed the door on the conference with a team score of 19-over, 307 on Tuesday at Los Serranos Country Club to clinch their second-straight and fifth overall SCIAC Title in program history. Margaret Loncki (CMC) led the Athenas by winning medalist honors in the Tournament. With a three-day total of 220 (+4), Loncki claimed the honors by three strokes over Redlands' Caroline Ordian (223, +7).

Athenas Head Into SCIAC Championships with 36 Stroke Lead

The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team will be in action this weekend at Los Serranos Golf Club in the 2018 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Golf Championships. The Championships take place from Sunday-Tuesday, April 22-24 and will serve as the final three rounds to determine a SCIAC Champion. After the first four rounds of SCIAC play, the Athenas hold a 36 stroke advantage over the rest of the field with Pomona-Pitzer currently sitting in second-place.

Athenas Top SCIAC At Second Leg of Conference Play

Over the weekend, the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team claimed the second leg of SCIAC play by winning the SCIAC #2 Tournament with a two-day total of 609 (+33). After shooting a 301 (+13) on Saturday, the Athenas carded a 308 (+20) on Sunday to top the seven-team field by 18 strokes. Margaret Loncki (CMC) and Mira Yoo (CMC) led the Athenas on the weekend with identical rounds of 74 (+2) and 77 (+5) to shoot a tournament total of 151 (+7) to finish in a tie for second-place.
