Women’s golf win CMS Tri Match at ease

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team won their first event of the season, holding a comfortable lead over Chapman University and Occidental College at the CMS Tri Match at Los Serranos Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. The team scored 315 on the course while Chapman stroked 341 and Occidental scored 369.  

Sophomore Mary Bryan Owen stood on top of the leaderboard, stroking par on every hole but five holes to go 5-over 72. Sophomore Kelly Ransom (CMC) had the second best score of the match, putting in a birdie on the 15th hole and finishing with 78 strokes. Freshman Eunice Song (CMC) had an impressive debut for the Athenas, hitting five pars in the final six holes, going 1-over on the 17th hole to be tied for third overall at the match. Freshmen Taylor Hughes (CMC) and Emma Kang (CMC) tied for fifth overall, stroking 81 on the course.

The team will return to Los Serranos Country Club next weekend on Oct. 8 and 9 for the CMS Invite. Saturday's tee-time will begin at 9 a.m. and Sunday's event will begin at 7:45 a.m.
