During the 2016-17 academic year, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletic department won 14 hard-fought regular season championships in the Southern Californian Intercollegiate and its athletes were honored with many outstanding awards.

Two Athenas earn All-Region honors; Loncki named All-American

After a fifth place finish at the National Championships, junior Margaret Loncki (CMC) was a Second Team All-American honoree, as named by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association. Prior to the championships, Loncki and freshman Emma Kang (CMC) both earned All-Region awards from the WGCA as well.

Athenas eighth, Loncki fifth at NCAA Championships

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team ended the 2017 season in eighth, the program’s highest finish at the NCAA Championships. The Athenas rose another spot on the leaderboard in the final day of the tournament with a team score of 311. The team total of 1262 is also the lowest in program history in the NCAA Tournament.

Loncki leads as Athenas make cut on NCAA day three

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team maintained their position in ninth place at the NCAA Championships at the Bay Oaks Country Club on Thursday afternoon in the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Athenas, led by Margaret Loncki (CMC), improved their team score for the third day in a row to shoot a 314.

Athenas move up on leaderboard in second day at NCAAs

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf program improved by one position on the leaderboard in the second day of the NCAA Championships at Bay Oaks Country Club thanks to low scores by Taylor Hughes (CMC), Emma Kang (CMC) and Margaret Loncki (CMC). As a team, CMS improved five strokes with a 316 for Wednesday’s round.

Brinster leads Athenas in first day of NCAA Championships

In the first day of the NCAA Championships, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team posted a 321 for 10th place in the team standings. The Athenas were led by junior Cara Brinster (CMC) who shot a 6-over on the day on the par 72, 5869 yard course.

Four Athenas on All-SCIAC First Team

After running away with the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf program landed four athletes on the conference’s First Team. Additionally, freshman Emma Kang (CMC) was honored as the Newcomer of the Year and head coach Jodie Burton was voted as the Coach of the Year.

Phase 1 of the new golf practice facility for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athena and Stag golf programs on the campus of Claremont McKenna College is now complete. Both the Stags and Athenas had the opportunity to use the new facility for the first time on Friday, April 28.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team won its fourth Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship by beating the University of Redlands by 35 stokes over the course of the four regular season rounds plus the three championship rounds.

Athenas post low round again, lead SCIAC Championships by 27

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team is in the lead of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship tournament by 27 strokes over Pomona-Pitzer and 41 strokes lower than the University of Redlands in the overall conference standings.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team extended their lead in the conference standings up to 28 strokes over the University of Redlands in the first day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Freshman Taylor Hughes (CMC) leads the field after posting a 73 on the day.

Athenas on top heading into SCIAC Championships

The No. 10 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team enters the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships as the No. 1 seed. The Athenas sit 11 strokes ahead of No. 7 Redlands after having taken a 26-stroke lead after the SCIAC #1 tournament, but then dropping 15 in SCIAC #2.
