Kain-Godoy, Athenas in third at close of first round of SCIACs

BEAUMONT, Calif. – With one day in the books at the SCIAC Championships, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team is in third place and junior Athena Taylor Kain-Godoy (CMC) is in third place after the first round, April 24 at Oak Valley Golf Course.

Redlands is in first place overall (309) followed by Pomona-Pitzer (311), with CMS in third (318) and No. 4 Cal Lutheran (320) just behind.

At 4-over par and in third place, Kain-Godoy is three strokes behind Amberlynn Dorsey of Redlands for the individual lead. Freshman Kelly Ransom (CMC) is tied for eighth (80), freshman Mary Bryan Owen (CMC) and sophomore Maya Bhat (CMC) are tied for 14th place (81), sophomore Margaret Loncki (CMC) played her way into a tie for 23rd (83) and sophomore Cara Brinster (CMC) is in 30th (86).

On Monday, round two will begin at 7:30 a.m. with split tee-times. The women start on hole one while the men tee off from hole 10.
