Fall opener ends with Athenas in third at Embry-Riddle Invite

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – In its first tournament of the fall season, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team finished in third place at the Embry-Riddle Invitational, held on Sept. 27-28 at Talking Rock Golf Club. The Athenas posted a score of 966 for the three rounds which was 12-shots behind Arizona Christian who won the event and three shots behind second place Embry-Riddle.

Junior Taylor Kain-Godoy (CMC) tied for second place overall on the individual side, with a three-round score of 19-over par (235), six shots behind the tournament winner, Mychaela Graf, from Biola University. Kain-Godoy scored a 78 in the first round and an 80 in her second round. She saved her best for the final round with a 5-over par 77 which was the lowest round for an Athena during the tournament.

Also in the top-10 for the Athenas in the 32-golfer field were freshmen Mary Bryan Owen (CMC) and Kelly Ransom (CMC) who tied for 10th. They both finished with scores of 241 and each of their lowest rounds was a 6-over, 78.

Senior Caroline Belmont (CMC) tied for 16th (252) while junior Liberty Ramsey (CMC) tied for 19th (256).

The Athenas are on the course again Oct. 3-4 for the CMS Quad at Upland Golf Club which is the final tournament of the Athenas' fall season.
