Three-time defending conference champion Athenas ready for SCIAC Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The three-time defending SCIAC champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team begins play at the three-round 2015 SCIAC Championships on April 26 at 12 p.m. in Beaumont, Calif. at Oak Valley Golf Course. The Championships run for three days, April 26-28. It's a shot gun start on April 26.

The Athenas head into the SCIAC Championships second behind Redlands who has a considerable lead over the rest of the pack in conference. Besides CMS, Whittier (3rd), Cal Lu (4th) and Pomona-Pitzer (5th) are all in the mix for second place in a tight race.

Freshman Margaret Loncki (CMC), senior Marissa Suehiro (CMC), senior Shaina Raskin (SCR), sophomore Lindsay Slocum (CMC), sophomore Taylor Kain-Godoy (CMC) and freshman Cara Brinster (CMC) make up the six Athenas expected to contribute to the team score for CMS at the SCIAC Championships.

Of the seven tournaments CMS has played in throughout the fall and spring so far, five different golfers have been the low scorer for CMS. Most recently, Kain-Godoy finished with the best scores for the Athenas at the SCIAC # 2 and Walker Cup Tournaments. In the two events before that, Loncki led the way.

Last year at the SCIAC Championships, Raskin finished in a tie for second place overall as the low scorer from CMS.
