Defending SCIAC champs tee off 2015 with second place at Claremont Quad

CLAREMONT, Calif. – After four months away from competition between the fall and spring seasons, the three-time defending conference champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team teed off the 2015 season on Feb. 8 in the Claremont Quad at Empire Lakes Golf Course. The Athenas finished in second place with a team score of 328, three shots behind Pomona-Pitzer which had a 325. Occidental had a team score of 367.

CMS sophomore Lindsay Slocum (CMC) came in second place overall with a 7-over par, 79. She finished one shot behind Pomona-Pitzer's Jennifer Kim who posted a 78. CMS first-year golfers Margaret Loncki and Maya Bhat (CMC), finished in second and third for CMS with an 81 and 83, respectively.

Senior Shaina Raskin (SCR) and freshman Cara Brinster (CMC) each had an 85, while sophomore Liberty Ramsey (SCR) posted an 88 and Taylor Kain-Godoy (CMC) finished close behind with an 89. Junior Caroline Belmont (CMC) and Rosie Kepple (SCR) rounded out CMS' competitors with a 94 and 102, respectively.

Next on the agenda for CMS is the SCIAC #1 Tournament at Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Santa Clarita, Calif. on Feb. 21-22.
