Double-double for Falahee on Senior Night win over Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball continued on their roll through SCIAC competition with a Thursday night win over Pomona-Pitzer 67-48 for the team's 20th win overall and 15th in conference. Mara Falahee (SCR) was honored before the game as CMS' only senior and then went for 11 points and 13 rebounds on the night.

The Sagehens only had a lead for a minute after Amelia Hummel made the first basket of the game. Then, the Athenas took control of the game and owned the 19-6 lead after the first quarter. CMS scored exactly 19 points in each of the first three quarters and had the largest lead mid-way through the third, at 34 points up on Pomona-Pitzer.

After the first half, sophomore Kailee Severt (CMC) already had 10 points while Falahee had snagged eight boards. Severt ended up with 17, her fifth game in a row in double-digit scoring.

Falahee was the second highest at 11 points and led all players with 13 rebounds. Tonight, she recorded only her fourth double-double in her career in 104 games played thus far.

Also contributing for the Athenas was freshman Ellery Koelker-Wolfe (CMC) who was a perfect 2-for-2 from the line and drained a three. In the 19-point victory, all 15 Athenas saw at least two minutes of playing time.

After the game, the team celebrated their third consecutive SCIAC championship by cutting down the net at the Linde Activities Center. Watch Falahee cut it down here.

CMS (20-4, 15-0 SCIAC) remains undefeated in conference with one game left in the regular season. The Athenas travel to Redlands (10-13, 7-7 SCIAC) on Saturday night to play the Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
