(Updated 3/4) - NCAA field announced, CMS travels to DePauw for opening round on March 7

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Back in NCAA postseason play for the first time since 2004, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team is scheduled to take on defending national champion DePauw University (27-1) on Friday, March 7 in Greencastle, Ind the NCAA announced Monday. Game time between CMS and DePauw is set for 7:30 p.m. EST. Should CMS advance, game time for the second round game is set for 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 8.

The other first-round matchup in Neal Fieldhouse on the campus of DePauw University pits Ohio Northern (24-3) against Transylvania (25-2).

CMS earned the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship by winning the SCIAC Postseason Tournament, capped off with a 78-60 win over Chapman in the championship game on March 1.

CMS (24-3)
With Saturday's win over Chapman, CMS registered its 24^th win of the season, a school record. CMS has won nine games in a row heading into NCAA postseason play. The Athenas are 2-4 all-time in NCAA postseason play, most recently losing to Chapman in Orange 57-47 in 2004. CMS' last NCAA Tournament win came in 1996, a one-point home win against La Verne. CMS has never faced DePauw, Ohio Northern or Transylvania, the three other teams in the bracket of the first and second rounds site at DePauw.

No. 4 DePauw (27-1)
The Tigers won the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament title with a 69-41 victory over Denison to earn the conference's NCAA automatic bid. DePauw's lone loss of the season came on Feb. 22, a one-point road loss to Ohio Wesleyan on the final day of the regular season. 2014 marks the 11^th straight NCAA appearance for DePauw.

No. 21 Ohio Northern (23-5)
This is the second-straight season that the Polar Bears have made the tournament and seventh time in program history. Ohio Northern went 23-5 on the season, finishing as runners-up in the OAC Tournament to earn a Pool C or at-large bid to the field.

No. 22 Transylvania (25-2)
The Pioneers secured an automatic bid with a 40-point Heartland Conference Championship victory over Hanover on March 2. Transylvania has won 11 games in a row heading into the tournament. This is their third NCAA appearance overall, last making the tournament in 2009.

From Exit 41 (U.S. 231) proceed north for approximately seven miles. Turn left on Hanna Street (at the Pizza King restaurant) and continue to Indiana St. (approximately 5 blocks).  Turn left on Indiana St. and parking is located on your right.

FROM NORTH U.S. 231
Proceed south on 231 until it turns at the courthouse square. Where it turns, proceed straight for seven blocks.  Turn left on Hanna Street and go one block.  Turn right on Indiana St. and parking is located on your right.

FROM ROUTE 240
Follow 240 west to the intersection with U.S. 231. Turn left on 231 (travel four blocks) and then turn right on Hanna Street (at the Pizza King restaurant) and continue to Indiana St. (approximately 5 blocks).  Turn left on Indiana St. and parking is located on your right. 

Ticket Information
Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for senior citizens, students and children (2 and older) and will go on sale at 4 p.m. on Friday and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cash sales only.

All games will be played in the Neal Fieldhouse which is located in the Lilly Physical Education and Recreation Center. Entry may be gained through the North doors.
