Track & Field teams take SCIAC Championships
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track & field teams captured their 36th conference championship overall (22nd for the men, 14th for the women) on May 1-2 at the SCIAC Track & Field Championships, hosted by Occidental College. It is the second-straight season that CMS took both the women's and men's conference championship in the same season.
In total, the Athenas won 11 individual conference championships, while the Stags added six of their own for a total of 17 in all.
Sophomore Hanna Tarleton (CMC) and Aiyanna Cameron-Lewis (CMC) each won three events for the Athenas. Tarleton ran with Cameron-Lewis as part of the winning 4x100 meter relay team which crossed the line in 47:59 and the winning 4x400 meter relay team. Tarleton added SCIAC titles in the 400-meter hurdles (61.59) while Cameron-Lewis won the 400 meters.
For the Stags, sophomore Matt Wong had two of the team's six first place finishes at the event; the long jump (22-06.50) and the triple jump (47-08.00).

Championship Point Breakdown
The SCIAC Champion for men's track and field and women's track in field is determined by a combination of the dual-meet season and the SCIAC Championship points, with the dual-meet points accounting for 25 percent and the championship, 75 percent.
Student-Athletes that place in the top 3 earn All-SCIAC honors in that event and the top eight in all finals score points for their school.
Scoring: The meet was scored 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for all events except the 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relays.
