DMR Record Highlights Rossi Relay Performances

Seniors Quinn Chasan, Jeff Macdonald, Jeff Vignos (pictured) and Bennett Naden combined to break the CMS record in the distance medley relay to highlight several strong perfomances by the host Stags and Athenas at the 17th Annual Rossi Relays on Saturday.  The team ran 10:06.42 to break the previous record that was set in 2002 by 7.62 seconds and won the race over second place USC by over 20 seconds.

19 teams from Division I, II, III and NAIA and over 700 athletes competed at the meet.

Reny Colton won the long jump with a strong early season mark of 18-11.75 and also set a personal best of 14.67, second best in CMS history, while finishing fourth in the 100 hurdles.  Ellyn Erving jumped a personal best of 39-3.75 in the triple jump, #2 in CMS and #4 in SCIAC history.  Laura Wyatt, Danielle Knott, Alisse Baumgarten and Aubrey Zimmerling ran 12:22.44 to finish fourth in the distance medley relay and came back to run 9:37.56 to finish second in the 4 x 800 relay.  Both times are third best in CMS history.  CMS' B Distance Medley team of Bridget Blum, Nicki Maslan, Allison Barnwell and Sara Mostatabi ran 12:25.82, fourth best in CMS history.  Justin Jones, Mac Hightower, Shane Kunselman and Alex Poyhonen won the men's 4 x 800 in 7:58.19.  Colin Briskman set a personal best of 8:48.36 while finishing third in the 3000.

CMS returns to action next Saturday as they begin SCIAC competition at Caltech against Cal Lutheran and Redlands.
