Personal:I was born in Virginia, but Colorado will always be my home.  I have a 12 year-old brother Erik who I would do anything for.  I love the snow.  Waking up to a fresh blanket of snow puts me in the best mood (especially when I’m in the mountains and get to go skiing).  On that note, SoCal seems an odd choice for college but coming to CMC has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.  I love food…trying foods from around the world is one of my favorite things to do.  Lucky for me, I live with an amazing cook (she is the reason I have yet to starve in the apartments…).  I’m a fan of country music…don’t judge me.  I also love to travel and experience different cultures.  Though I am not as interested in the typical tourist destinations, I find it fascinating to go to the small villages and towns that are the most preserved and embedded in a country’s culture.  Finally, two of my most influential people in both tennis and life are my old coaches Gay West and Randy Ross.  They have both taught me so much and I am more grateful to them then I could ever show.

In your free time you like to: Hang out with friends and family, have dance parties, play rukshuk (crazy Canadian rock game) and eat/cook

Favorite sport to watch: I love watching any and all sports!!

If you didn’t play college tennis, what college sport would you want to play: Lacrosse or soccer

Your ideal week-end get-away: A weekend at my house in the mountains.  I would wake up when the slopes opened, go skiing with my little brother and have a cheese fondue lunch on the mountain.  After skiing I would take my puppy on a long walk around the village and watch him roll around and bury himself in the snow.

Three essential things in your dorm room: A scrapbook of various pieces of life advice given to me by my dad’s family.  Camera.  Passport.

Favorite quote or saying: Life’s short…break rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that once made you smile.

You couldn’t live without your: Family, friends and dreams.

Best part of going to a small college:  I love how accessible everything is.  The professors really do care (which is not the case, as I discovered, at most large schools) and are there to transfer their knowledge, not just for the research.  It is great to be able to just go into their offices and have a conversation about anything that is on your mind.  I also love the fact that I can be anywhere on campus within a matter of minutes…all of my friends are just a couple steps away!!

You love going back home because you miss your….: My family and my puppy (who isn’t really a puppy anymore) Tiggs.

One thing you hope you can do after you graduate, before you have a full time job: Go visit my old roomie who graduated early in Japan with all our friends as well as visiting one of my best friends from London (preferably in her hometown Prague…).

You would never leave the house without: A plan and a smile.

The most daring thing you’ve ever done: Parasailing

You wish you were brave enough to: Completely let my guard down and not worry.

Best gift you’ve ever given: I haven’t exactly given this yet but….when my little brother turns 16 I want to take him anywhere in the world he wants to go.

Best gift you’ve ever received: On my 21st birthday I was living in London and had not seen my family (and most of my friends) in a year.  I was out to dinner celebrating with a friend and as we were getting ready to order my little twelve-year-old little brother popped up from under the table.  I was so shocked that I screamed!

Last book you read for pleasure: To Live by Hua Yu.  A book centered around the power of simplicity, finding the silver lining in a cloud of grey and the value of life.
