Bio

Coach Nachtigal enters his second season with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball program in 2016-17. He comes to CMS after finishing coursework towards his doctorate in Sport Administration at the University of New Mexico. He worked as a teaching assistant at UNM, where he taught classes on sport management and physical education. In his spare time he continues to work on his doctorate, writing his dissertation on the platoon effect in women’s college softball. Previously he received an MBA from Colorado Technical University and an English degree from the University of Nebraska.

Prior coaching experience for Nachtigal includes a decade of coaching tournament softball teams in South Dakota, predominately for the Hartford Sparx, and made two trips to nationals. He coached at Tea Area High School in Tea, S.D. for five years. He also coached baseball, from youth to the American Legion ranks.

Nachtigal is an author of a book titled Outfielding: An Introduction for Baseball and Softball Coaches. He posts his softball-related research to his site FastpitchAnalytics.com and can be followed on Twitter at @Fastpitch_Stats.
