Bio

Kaito Komoriya hails from Doha, Qatar. With temperatures rising well over 100 degrees, he has to resort to running on the much-dreaded treadmill during the summer months. With his country cut off from the region with a blockade, he has been deprived of races and competition this past year so is looking forward to more opportunities next year. Originally Japanese, he was born in Turkey and has lived in Qatar for the majority of his life. He is confused too. He initially started his athletic career as a swimmer but made the transition onto land during his sophomore year and has not looked back since. He decided to come to Claremont McKennna because of its excellent academic and running program. His personal bests include a 4:17 in the 1500, a 9:29 in the 3000, and a 16:20 in the 5k.  If someone were to ask him what he will major in, he will tell them either econ and/or history. He looks forward to exploring the trails and everything Southern California has to offer.
