Stags Gallop to 5-2 Finish at SCIAC Multi Dual

LA MIRADA, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team were tested by the slopes at La Mirada Regional Park as the Stags finished in third overall with 60 points at the SCIAC Multi Dual. Cross-street rival Pomona-Pitzer took first overall, scoring 33 points, while Occidental College took second at 58 points. The Stags saw six runners finish within the top-30, including Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) who finished in third place at 25:34.83 behind Andy Reischling (25:22.86) of Pomona-Pitzer and Julian Sandoval (25:29.32) of Whittier College. The Stags now hold a 6-2 score in the SCIAC. 

Kevin Huang (HMC) was the second highest finisher among the Stags, taking eighth overall at 26:12.50, while his teammate Ben Iten (HMC) was right behind him and crossed at 26:19.72. 

Max Denning (HMC) was the fourth-highest finisher for CMS, taking 20th overall at 27:03.60 and Brooks Macdonald (HMC) was the last Stag to record points, crossing in 22nd at 27:12.52. 

Freshman Gage Hornung (HMC) finished in 29th place overall, clocking in at 27:27.86. 

The Stags will take a break next weekend and will split their squad on Saturday, October 14 for the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational at 8:00 a.m. and the Pre Nationals in St. Louis, MO at 10:00 a.m.
