Strong Finish for Stags at Competitive Riverside Invite

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A select few members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team ran in the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday morning and finished ninth among non-Division I institutions. Sending seven representatives, CMS finished with a team score of 223 in the non-DI category placing them as the second-highest finishing Division III institution in the competition. Two Stags finished within the top-50 among the non-Division I runners. 

Leading the Stags on the morning was Thomas D'Anieri (CMC), who finished the 8K race with a time of 24:58.2 to place 18th among the non-Division I competition. His time puts him as the 12th-best in CMS history in the men's 8K, ahead of Alex Lombardo's time (24:58.9) back in 2014. 

Ben Iten (HMC) was the second-highest finisher among the Stags, crossing at 25:23.4 to finish in 32nd among non-Division I runners and becoming one of the few CMS runners in history to finish below 25:30 in an 8K event. 

Coming in at 55th at 25:44.1, Kevin Huang (HMC) was the third-highest finisher among the Stags while Kyle Suver (HMC) finished 68th at 26:05.6. Adam Schulze (HMC) clocked in at 26:21.3 to finish 78th while Wilson Ives (HMC) was close behind in 80th place, timing at 26:23.8. Collin Barraugh (CMC) finished two places behind Ives and timed in at 26:27.3. 

The Stags will head to San Bernardino to compete in the Cal State San Bernardino Invitational on Saturday, September 23 at 8:00 a.m.
