Lund, Sealand, McKillop earn All-American honors

NEW ORLEANS, Louis. – Following a strong showing at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship this past Saturday, three runners from the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country program were named on the 2016 United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-American Team. This honor was awarded to the top-35 in the men's and women's races at the NCAA Championship race over in Sawyer Park at Louisville, Kentucky. Seniors Kyle Lund (HMC) and Joshua Sealand (HMC) earned the award on the men's side while junior Bryn McKillop (SC) was honored on the women's.

Out of 32 teams that competed, CMS was one of five schools to have two runners named on the men's All-American list. Lund and Sealand had strong races to help the Stags to their best finish in their NCAA history, scoring low enough to put CMS in fifth place at 251 points. This was an improvement over last year's record-setting finish at seventh place at 290 points. Lund was the highest finisher amongst the Stags at the NCAA Championship and took fifth place amongst the team competitors at a time of 20:53.5. Sealand followed close by, taking eighth at 24:39.8.

Amongst the Athenas, McKillop was awarded with this honor after her top-5 finish at the NCAA Championship. The junior finished fourth amongst the team competitors at 20:53.5, recording her sixth top-5 finish this season.
