John Goldhammer named West Region Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, Louis. – The United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association announced John Goldhammer as the West Region Men’s Coach of the Year on Tuesday afternoon. Currently in his 33rd season as head coach of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country program, coach Goldhammer lead the Stags to their 8th  NCAA West Region title with 43 points on Saturday. The Stags saw all seven of their runners finish within the top-25, including three in the top-10.

“It’s the team that won the race, so they deserve most for the credit,” said coach Goldhammer humbly stated. “The team doing well was my reward.”  

Head Coach Dan Moore of No. 2 Suny Geneseo was named USTFCCCA Coach of the Year in the Atlantic Region while Al Carius of No. 1 took the honors in the Midwest Region. Maya Weigel of Pomona-Pitzer was the only SCIAC athlete listed in the USTFCCCA Athlete of the Year award after taking first overall in the NCAA West Regional.
