Will Clark Earns SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for CMS Men's Water Polo

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Will Clark of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team was named the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week for games through Sunday, Oct. 17, the league office announced today.

Clark earned the award after helping the Stags to a pair of key SCIAC wins last week, as they improved to 5-3 in league play and solidified their hold on one of the top four spots in the league standings. CMS had an important road contest at Chapman on Wednesday, and trailed 5-3 late in the half, before Clark scored two straight goals to tie it. 

After halftime, Clark added two more quick goals to give him four goals in a 6-0 CMS run that turned that 5-3 deficit into a 9-5 lead, as the Stags went on to take a 16-9 road win that created some separation between fourth and fifth place (the top four teams receive SCIAC Tournament berths). Clark then scored the first two goals on Saturday to jump-start CMS on its way to an 8-1 lead and a 13-7 win at home against La Verne, moving the Stags to 5-3 in the league. 

CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Caltech, before returning home next week on Wednesday night to take on Occidental.
