  • CMS Celebrates Division III Week

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is joining NCAA Division III programs nationwide to celebrate the impact of athletics and student-athletes on college campuses. From April 3-9, CMS will be sharing videos that document just a few of the hundreds of stories about why our student-athletes play DIII.
  • Ten Stags honored on ACWPC All-Academic Team

    Ten members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team were recently honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for their academic achievements. The ACWPC All-Academic team consisted of a total of 357 athletes from across the nation and NCAA divisions.
  • Taylor and Deer named to All-American Team

    The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the 2016 Men’s Division III Water Polo All-America teams on Dec. 15. Senior Ellison Taylor (CMC) and junior Noah Deer (CMC) earned First Team nods while senior Alex Waggoner (CMC) was recognized as an Honorable Mention.
  • Four Stags All-SCIAC after valiant playoff run

    After Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team came up just short in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, four athletes earned All-Conference recognition from the SCIAC. Senior Ellison Taylor (CMC) and junior Noah Deer (CMC) were honored with First Team while seniors Rye Newman (CMC) and Alex Waggoner (CMC) captured Second Team nods.
  • A fight until the end for Stags in SCIAC final

    In the eighth consecutive appearance in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Final, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team came up short against the strong Pomona-Pitzer team for the 7-4 final score. The Stags wrap up their season for a second place finish in SCIAC standings at 14 points (six for regular season wins, eight for 2nd place in the tournament).
  • Eighth straight SCIAC final appearance for Stags

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team advances to its eighth straight championship game in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with the 10-9 win over Whittier College. The Stags avenged the regular season loss to the Poets with a come-from-behind victory in the fourth quarter.

    The Claremont Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team enters the 2016 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships as the No. 3 seed, but is still statistically vying for the conference title. CMS (6-2) faces the No. 6 seed, Occidental (2-3), in the opening matchup on Friday, Nov. 18 at 11:45 a.m.
  • Senior day win over Caltech keeps Stags in the hunt

    With the 16-6 win over Caltech on Senior Day for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team, the Stags are still in contention for the SCIAC title. Prior to the game, the five Stag seniors were honored and adorned with customary leis: Ellison Taylor (CMC), Alex Waggoner (CMC), Eric Bakar (CMC), Rye Newman (CMC) and Nick Bailey (HMC).

    The hard-fought match against the cross street rival didn’t go in the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team’s favor, as the Stags (13-15, 5-2) took a tough 13-8 loss to No. 15 Pomona-Pitzer (19-8, 7-0) on Wednesday night.
  • Crucial SCIAC win over Redlands in 1-1 weekend

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team went 1-1 on the weekend with an important win over Redlands (9-7) on Saturday morning. On Sunday, the Stags faced Air Force in a non-conference matchup and fell 9-5. In both games, junior Noah Deer (CMC) steadied the defense and put in almost half the team’s goals.
  • Big third quarter for win over Chapman

    Junior Noah Deer (CMC) scored five goals en route to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team 13-11 victory over Chapman University on Wednesday night. The Stags put together a six-goal third quarter to break the tie and bring home their fourth SCIAC win.
  • Stags get another SCIAC win vs. Oxy

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team earned their third win in SCIAC competition with the 15-11 victory over Occidental on Saturday morning. Junior Graham Fullerton (CMC) and senior Eric Baker (CMC) each scored a hat trick in the game as the five-goal third quarter took CMS past the Tigers.
  • Newman saves 10 as Stags take CLU

    For its second win in SCIAC, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team pulled away in the second half to beat Cal Lutheran 10-7 on Saturday morning. Senior Rye Newman (CMC) made 10 saves, including on a penalty, to lead his team to the victory at home.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team (9-11, 1-0) opened up conference play on Sunday afternoon with a major 12-6 victory over University of La Verne (2-14, 0-1).
  • Big fourth quarter takes CMS past LMU

    Avoiding overtime, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team came from behind to pull out a 14-13 victory over Loyola Marymount on Friday afternoon. The Stags rallied past the Lions with five goals in the fourth quarter and then played superb defense to hold onto the lead at the end.

    On the second day of the annual Gary Troyer Tournament, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team added two more wins beating Iona 15-11 and Connecticut College 15-9.

    In the first day of the Gary Troyer Tournament, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team went 1-1 with a win over Concordia, Irvine, 8-7 in the final game of the day after dropping the afternoon game to UC San Diego 12-8.

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer are the host of the 2016 Gary Troyer Tournament. The tournament features 21 programs from across the country to compete in a total of 39 games over two days, Oct. 7-8.
  • Stags come up short against No. 16 Lancers

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team faced off against California Baptist University in the Lancers’ home opener on Friday afternoon and came up short in the 18-9 loss. The Stags kept the game close through the first quarter but then the well-organized CBU put together 13 goals in 16 minutes of clock time in the middle of the game.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team earned its first wins of the 2016 campaign against Concordia (CA) and Redlands at the annual Inland Empire Classic hosted by the University of Redlands. On the weekend, the Stags were 2-2 overall with losses to two highly ranked DI institutions: Pepperdine and Long Beach State.

    With the beginning of the academic year just around the corner, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has the fall sports schedules already populating the calendar. In the fall, CMS sponsors football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s volleyball, and men’s water polo. Here is a short preview of the schedules of each of our teams.
