Ten members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team were recently honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for their academic achievements. The ACWPC All-Academic team consisted of a total of 357 athletes from across the nation and NCAA divisions.

The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the 2016 Men’s Division III Water Polo All-America teams on Dec. 15. Senior Ellison Taylor (CMC) and junior Noah Deer (CMC) earned First Team nods while senior Alex Waggoner (CMC) was recognized as an Honorable Mention.

After Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team came up just short in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, four athletes earned All-Conference recognition from the SCIAC. Senior Ellison Taylor (CMC) and junior Noah Deer (CMC) were honored with First Team while seniors Rye Newman (CMC) and Alex Waggoner (CMC) captured Second Team nods.

In the eighth consecutive appearance in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Final, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team came up short against the strong Pomona-Pitzer team for the 7-4 final score. The Stags wrap up their season for a second place finish in SCIAC standings at 14 points (six for regular season wins, eight for 2nd place in the tournament).

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team advances to its eighth straight championship game in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with the 10-9 win over Whittier College. The Stags avenged the regular season loss to the Poets with a come-from-behind victory in the fourth quarter.

The Claremont Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team enters the 2016 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships as the No. 3 seed, but is still statistically vying for the conference title. CMS (6-2) faces the No. 6 seed, Occidental (2-3), in the opening matchup on Friday, Nov. 18 at 11:45 a.m.

With the 16-6 win over Caltech on Senior Day for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team, the Stags are still in contention for the SCIAC title. Prior to the game, the five Stag seniors were honored and adorned with customary leis: Ellison Taylor (CMC), Alex Waggoner (CMC), Eric Bakar (CMC), Rye Newman (CMC) and Nick Bailey (HMC).

The hard-fought match against the cross street rival didn’t go in the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team’s favor, as the Stags (13-15, 5-2) took a tough 13-8 loss to No. 15 Pomona-Pitzer (19-8, 7-0) on Wednesday night.

Crucial SCIAC win over Redlands in 1-1 weekend

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team went 1-1 on the weekend with an important win over Redlands (9-7) on Saturday morning. On Sunday, the Stags faced Air Force in a non-conference matchup and fell 9-5. In both games, junior Noah Deer (CMC) steadied the defense and put in almost half the team’s goals.

Junior Noah Deer (CMC) scored five goals en route to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team 13-11 victory over Chapman University on Wednesday night. The Stags put together a six-goal third quarter to break the tie and bring home their fourth SCIAC win.
