Ten Stags score in 14-6 win vs. Caltech

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team increased their SCIAC record to 5-0 with a 14-6 win over Caltech on Saturday. All the eligible Stag swimmers saw time in the pool and scoring came from ten different players.

CMS came out strong with an 8-0 run to begin the game before Caltech scored their first goal two minutes into the second quarter. During the first quarter, freshman attacker Peter Tilton scored back to back goals to give the Stags a 5-0 advantage.

Sophomore Rye Newman played the whole game in the net and had 13 saves.

Between a pair of ejections, freshman utility Arya Nakhjavani scored the final goal for the Stags in the fourth quarter.

Head coach Greg Lonzo was pleased that everyone got to get in the game and gain experience.

CMS (9-12, 5-0 SCIAC)wil round out their conference season with the stiff competition of Whittier (15-12, 4-0 SCIAC), Chapman (14-7, 5-0 SCIAC) and Pomona-Pitzer (6-14, 2-2 SCIAC). The Stags host Chapman on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m.
