CMS Men's Track and Field Dominates Competition at Final Multi-Dual

LA VERNE, Calif. - The CMS men's track and field team won 13 events at the third SCIAC Multi-Dual, looking in top form in its final tuneup before postseason competition begins in two weeks. 

The Stags easily won all four of the duals among the five teams competing, defeating Caltech 118-17, Chapman 119-30, La Verne 114-37 and Occidental 107-42. 

Nick Teresi and Timi Balogun were a close 1-2 in the 100 meters, with Teresi crossing in 11.06 and Balogun in 11.09. Teresi added a 200-meter win in 22.28 seconds to edge out Jack Spencer of Occidental in 22.56. 

Balogun, Teresi, Quincey Williams and Christian Campbell added a first-place finish in the 4x100 relay in 41.78 seconds.

Jamie Cockburn finished in first in the 400 meters in 48.87, while Daniel Sealand took first in the 800 meters in 1:55.38, one day after setting a new school record in the 1500. Daniel Krasemann added a second-place finish for the Stags in the 800 as well. 

CMS went 1-4 in the 1500 meters, with Kyril Van Schendel winning it in 3:54.20, followed by Gage Hornung, Kai Dettman and Adam Wilkinson. Oliver Pick was first in the 5000 meters in 15:20.94, and Arjun Natarajan was the winner in the steeplechase in 9:38.54, followed by Raja Batra in second. 

In the field events, Joshua Martinez took first in the long jump and triple jump, taking the long jump in 21'11.5" and the triple jump with a distance of 42'8" (13 meters exactly). 

In the throws, the Stags went 1-2-3 in the shot put, with Tyson-Jay Saena winning with a throw of 47'3", followed by Sarath Kakani and Jason Bowman. Saena, Bowman and Truman Knowles were 1-2-3 in the hammer, with Saena's throw of 147'0" taking first. Bowman won the discus with a top throw of 130'4". 

CMS will be back in action in two weeks for the SCIAC Championships, which will be held at Whittier on April 30 and May 1.
