Campbell Has Three Top-Five Finishes to Highlight CMS Men's Track and Field at Rossi Relays

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Christian Campbell broke 11 seconds in the 100 meters to finish fourth out of 61 competitors and anchored two relays to second and third-place finishes to highlight the performance of the CMS Men's Track and Field team at its annual Rossi Relays on Saturday at the Burns Track Complex.

The CMS team of Quincey Williams, Joshua Martinez, Nick Teresi and Campbell earned a second-place finish in the sprint medley relay in 1:33.51 seconds, just .54 behind UC San Diego. The CMS B team of Viksit Verma, Colin Scanlon, Timi Balogun and Jack Myers was third in 1:34.83. 

The same foursome also added a solid third in the 4x100 relay in 42.35 seconds, as Williams, Martinez, Teresi and Campbell finished behind only foursomes from Division I UC San Diego and Division II Cal Poly Pomona.

Campbell also came in under 11 seconds in the 100 meters to finish fourth as an individual (out of 61) in 10.99 seconds, while Teresi was ninth in 11.10 seconds. Martinez earned a top-10 in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.19 seconds and another in the long jump at 6.26 meters, while Scanlon was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.89 seconds. 

The 4x800 relay also finished third behind two Division I programs from Pepperdine and UC San Diego, as Adam Wilkinson, Daniel Krasemann, Kyril van Schendel and Henry Pick finished in 7:47.46. The distance medley relay team of Krasemann, Mark Russell, Noah Nevens and Stevie Steinberg was second in 10:14.88, with the B team of Will Kimball, Balogun, Gus Albach and Evan Hassman third.

CMS had three of the top 10 in the 3000 meters, with Miles Christensen taking fourth in 8:22.79, Daniel Sealand coming in sixth in 8:23.51 and Henry Pick eighth in 8:25.68. 

John Horan came in fourth in the pole vault for the Stags with a top clearance of 4.45 meters (14'7 1/4"), which put him behind only two competitors from the Lucky Strike club team and Kyle Gibbs of UC San Diego. 

In the throws, Logan O'Keefe was the top individual finisher among college competitors in the hammer with a top distance of 53.52 meters, finishing behind only unattached thrower Jacob Sun. Maxwell Knowles and Truman Knowles were 2-3 in the javelin, with Maxwell returning to action with a throw of 186'3" as he tries to reach 200 feet after winning the SCIAC with a 199-foot effort in 2019.

CMS will be back in action as a team when it competes at the first SCIAC Multi-Dual hosted by La Verne on Saturday.
