Jamie Cockburn Moves into Top 10 at CMS in 200 Meters at Redlands Final Qualifier

REDLANDS, Calif. - Freshman Jamie Cockburn set a new personal-best with a 21.77 in the 200 meters to move into eighth place in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field history to highlight the Stags performance at the Redlands Final Qualifier on Thursday.

Cockburn now stands in the top 10 in CMS history in two individual events, after also running the 10th best 400 in program annals at 48.75 earlier this year. He is also part of a 4x100 relay team that set a school record last week at the Azusa Pacific Twilight Meet with a 41.18, along with senior Matthew Guillory, sophomore Carter Henderson and senior Corbin Bethurem

That foursome ran again at Redlands to see if it could improve on its mark and came close, running a 41.37, while Redlands finished in 41.00 even for the fastest time in Division III this season. The Stags still stand seventh in the country and remain in excellent shape to be one of the top 16 relay teams to qualify for nationals next month.

CMS will await potentital invitations to nationals this weekend, following the conclusion of all of the "last chance" style events around the country.
