McDonald Highlights Stags' Performances on Friday

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The men of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field team saw action at two competitive meets with athletes at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific, and at the Long Beach State Invitational. The Stags faced off against tough Division I and II competition and held their own with three athletes setting new personal records.

Alex McDonald (CMC) highlighted the Stags' performances with a great time in the 400 meter hurdles (53.76), the top time in the SCIAC this season.

Bryan Clay Invitational

McDonald improved on his previous time with a 53.76 race in the 400 meter hurdles. He smashed his previous best by over a second with the top time in the SCIAC this year and the fifth fastest time in CMS history. He currently holds the ninth fastest time in Division III this year. McDonald's time was the best among Division III competitors at the meet and 17th overall.

Wilson Ives also turned in a new personal record in an event in the 1500 meter run. He finished fifth overall and was the top Division III finisher with a time of 3:57.75, finishing less than a second behind a pair of runners from Division I Southern Utah.

Long Beach State Invitational

Walker Quinn (CMC) set a new personal record in the pole vault, tying for the top spot in his flight at 4.60m. He finished the day tied for fifth behind all Division I athletes.

The Stags next compete at the SCIAC Conference Championships hosted at the University of Redlands. The meet is set for Apr. 27 and 28.
