D'Anieri Breaks School Record, Stags in Action at Oxy
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Stags of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field team dodged the rain at the Oxy Sprint and Distance Carnival on Saturday. Though not the entire team participated, multiple Stags posted top-10 finishes, including a new school record from Thomas D'Anieri in the 5,000 meter run. His time of 14:21.04 was less than a second faster than the 14:21.74 posted by Rafer Dannenhauer in 2013.
On the Track:
Thomas D'Anieri's (CMC) school record run in the 5,000 meter run placed him sixth among 233 runners, crossing the finish line in 14:21.04, less than two seconds behind a runner from California Baptist.
Wilson Ives (HMC) was also in action for the Stags on Saturday and finished in the top-15 in the 1500 meter run, clocking in at 4:04.28.
On the Field:
Maxwell Knowles (CMC) was the lone Stag in action in the field events and he put together an impressive performance. The sophomore posted a third-place finish in the javelin throw, throwing his implement 51.58m, less than one meter behind the second-place athlete.
The Stags continue their season on Friday when they participate in the Redlands Invitational.
