CMS Men's Tennis Takes 6-3 Road Win at Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team improved to 3-0 in SCIAC, and 147-0 in SCIAC-sponsored matches since 2005, as it took a 6-3 road win over No. 32 Redlands on Saturday.

With the win, CMS moves to 10-4 on the season, including three straight wins this weekend over UC Santa Cruz on Thursday and Occidental on Friday.

Advik Mareedu and Warren Pham won their third straight at No. 3 doubles, giving CMS an early 1-0 lead. Both Mareedu and Pham then won at No. 1 and No. 5 singles respectively - their third straight wins in singles - to lead the Stags to victory.

Matthew Robinson put CMS ahead 3-2 with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Ian Freer made it 4-2 by taking a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3, before Mareedu got the clinch at the top spot. Freer also combined with Daniel Blackman for the second straight match, an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

CMS will be in action again on Friday when it meets Gustavus Adolphus in a rare doubleheader, making up for their rainout from the Stag-Hen Invitational last month.
