Jack Katzman to Represent USA at 2019 Pan Am Maccabi Games This Month

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis rising junior Jack Katzman was selected to Maccabi USA's Men's Tennis Team for the upcoming 14th Pan American Maccabi Games, which will take place July 5-15, 2019 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Katzman is coming off a tremendous sophomore campaign which saw him compile a 29-3 record in singles and a 29-7 record in doubles on his way to earning All-America honors for the second straight year. He did not lose a single dual singles match all year, finishing a perfect 22-0, including 7-0 playing at No. 1 and 15-0 playing at No. 2.

During the spring semester, Katzman had a 23-match winning streak which was finally snapped in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Division III Singles Championship. Over the last 20 of those wins, he did not drop a set, and did not go past 6-4 in any of those 40 sets. He also had a 51-13 combined record as a freshman, which included a run to the NCAA Division III singles national championship match, giving him 109 combined singles and doubles wins in only two seasons.

Katzman's efforts helped the CMS men's tennis team to a No. 1 national ranking for six weeks and a final record of 33-2. The Stags reached the national championship match, falling 5-3 to Emory to end the year as the Division III runner-up. Katzman provided one of the CMS points in the national championship with a straight-set singles win at No. 2.

The tennis competition at the Pan American Maccabi Games gets underway on Sunday, July 7 with the opening round and concludes on Sunday, July 14 with the finals. Draws will be announced on Saturday on the eve of competition. You can follow the action through MaccabiUSA.com or through the event's home page at https://macabiadas.mx/.
