Parodi finishes as National Runner-Up in singles title match

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Nikolai Parodi (CMC '20) wrapped up his freshman season as the National Runner-Up in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis singles final. In a rematch from earlier in the week, Parodi fell to Lubomir Cuba of Middlebury College 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

In the opening set, Cuba steadily built up a lead. He went up three breaks at 5-0 before Parodi broke back for his only game of the set. While Cuba's game seemed impenetrable, Parodi's frustration was increased by a handful of unforced errors. Cuba quickly earned the first set win at 6-1.

The second set looked to go the same as the first before Parodi held serve midway through. It seemed every ball that hit the net fell onto Parodi's side. Cuba served for the match at 5-1 and had a double championship point at 40-15 in the final game. Parodi fought off one match point but then Cuba earned the singles title with an ace.

The freshman Stag finished his first season tied at No. 3 all-time for single season wins at 33-9, only behind Warren Wood (CMC '15) and Skyler Butts (CMC '16).
