Parodi prepped for NCAA singles title match at 7 a.m. PT

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Nikolai Parodi (CMC '20) will be competing for a national championship for the second time this week in the singles final at the NCAA Championships tomorrow. Both Parodi and Daniel Morkovine (CMC '17) competed in the quarterfinals on Friday morning and Parodi's two wins today advanced him to the singles title match.

The NCAA singles final will be streamed live at 7 a.m. PDT.

Parodi went up against Jeremy Dubin from Johns Hopkins, the Centennial Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Year, for the first time this year in the morning's quarterfinal match and earned the 6-4, 6-3 win. In his semifinal match, Parodi produced a dominating performance over Nicholas Chua from Chicago. The two had met up in a dual match at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center with Parodi earning the win in that match 6-1, 7-5.

Tomorrow, Parodi will face Lubomir Cuba of Middlebury College. On Monday in the team championships, Parodi earned the 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-5 victory over the sophomore from Midd. Both Cuba and Parodi earned Athlete of the Year honors from their respective conferences and set the stage for a thrilling National Championship match tomorrow. This is the fourth year in a row that CMS has had at least one player in the NCAA singles title match.

Morkovine faced Chua in the quarterfinals and was unable to force a third set after dropping the first 6-4. Ultimately, the 6-4, 6-3 score ended Morkovine's valiant senior year run at the NCAA Championships. He closes this season at 30-8 and his career with the 96-21 record, good for No. 5 all-time at CMS.
