Parodi and Morkovine advance to singles quarterfinals at NCAAs

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Nikolai Parodi (CMC '20) and Daniel Morkovine (CMC' 17) advanced into the quarterfinals of the NCAA Individuals competition with first and second round wins while Glenn Hull (CMC '17) faced a stout opponent ending his run in the first round.

Hull was matched with the 2016 national singles runner up in the first round and fell 6-3, 6-1 to Branden Metzler from Kalamazoo. It was just last year that Skyler Butts (CMC '16) defeated Metzler for the singles title.

Morkovine earned two straight set wins beating Herman Abban from Carthage 6-2, 6-1 and then Luke Tercek from Bowdoin 6-1, 7-6 to get into the top-8. Tomorrow morning, he will face Nicholas Chua from Chicago for the first time this season. At the end of March, CMS hosted Chicago as Parodi defeated Chua 6-1, 7-5 at the top spot.

Parodi went the distance in his first match, ultimately winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 versus Ben Rosen from Bates. In the second round, Parodi was challenged in the first set by the local athlete, Avery Schober from Sewanee, but ultimately prevailed 6-4, 7-5. He will face Jeremy Dubin from Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinal tomorrow.
