Parodi and Tan headline ITA regional honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – Six members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tennis programs were named on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association 2017 Division III regional awards on Thursday, May 18. Both the No. 3 Stags and No. 1 Athenas are enjoying a successful season and have punched their tickets to the NCAA Quarterfinals, which is to be played on May 22nd.

Stags assistant coach Chris Fabrizio was named ITA Assistant Coach of the Year in light of his contributions helping head coach Paul Settles co-manage a deep and talented roster. Freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) was awarded ITA Rookie of the Year after climbing up to the No. 1 singles spot for the top-ranked team in the country in his debut season.

Head coach David Schwarz earned the Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year for the first time with the Athenas, having last won the award back in 2009 and 2010 as the men's head coach for Middlebury College. Freshman Nicole Tan (CMC) was named ITA Rookie of the Year and her doubles partner junior Lindsay Brown (CMC) took ITA Player to Watch honors. Senior Katie Kuosman (CMC) earned ITA Senior Player of the Year.
