Stags to host second and third regional rounds of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Committee released the 43-team field for the 2016 Championships and the SCIAC champion and No. 2 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team is hosting second and third round regional matches on May 13-14 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

CMS (25-4) received an AQ to the NCAA Championships by defeating Pomona-Pitzer 6-3 on May 8 in the conference finals. It is the 11th-straight conference title for the defending national champion Stags.

CMS earned a first round bye for NCAA postseason competition and plays UC Santa Cruz (6-7) in the second round on Friday, May 13 at 2 p.m. The other second round match at CMS is between Whitman (19-8) and Texas-Tyler (17-9), also scheduled to be played at 2 p.m. The winner of the CMS vs. Santa Cruz match will play the winner of the Whitman vs. Texas-Tyler match in the third round on Saturday, May 14 at 10 a.m. The winner of the third round match advances to the team championships finals, which will be held May 23-25 at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.
