Butts claims third place at Small College Nationals
CMS Stags Tennis' Skyler Butts (Sr. Capt - Santa Ana, CA) won the third place play-off on Saturday at the USTA / ITA Small College Nationals in Sumter, S.C. Butts was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Gustavus Adolphus' Mohanad Al-Houni.
The Stags' senior captain faced little resistance in winning the opening four games of the match. After closing out the first set 6-1, Butts dropped the first three games of the second before running off six straight to close out the match. Butts completes his fall season with an 8-1 singles record, having earned his third consecutive ITA All-American honor for his singles title in the west regional. His third place finish marks the second time in three years that Butts has placed in the top three in the Small College National event.
