Butts advances to semis of Small College Nationals
CMS Tennis' Skyler Butts (Sr. Capt - Santa Ana, CA) earned a semifinal berth in the USTA / ITA Small College National Championships in Sumter, S.C, with his straight set win over Skidmore's Kai Yuen Leung on Thursday. Top-seeded Butts was the only seed to advance in the field of eight. He'll face Emory's Rafe Mosetick on Friday at 10:30 AM EST.
Butts is making his second appearance in the USTA / ITA Small College National Championships, having won the West Regional both in 2013 and again this year. He reached the final in 2013 before losing to Carnegie Mellon's Abishek Alla. Both Alla and 2014 champion Nick Chua of the University of Chicago lost opening round matches in Sumter on Thursday.
