CMS Preview

The Stags are playing for the team's 11th SCIAC championship in a row and 24th overall. In each of the last two seasons, CMS has defeated Pomona-Pitzer for the SCIAC title. This season, CMS is once again the top seed and Pomona-Pitzer is the No. 2 seed. In the lone match-up between the two squads this season, CMS escaped with a 6-3 win after trailing 2-1 after doubles at CMS' home courts.

Behind CMS and Pomona-Pitzer, Redlands (No. 3), Whittier (No. 4), Caltech (No. 5), Chapman (No. 6), Cal Lutheran (No. 7) and Occidental (No. 8) round out the field. Of those eight teams, three (CMS – No. 2, PP – No. 10, UR – No. 15) rank in the top-20 nationally. CMS and Pomona-Pitzer are 1-2 in the region, while Redlands is fourth, Whittier is 10th, Caltech is 12th, Cal Lutheran is 15th and Chapman is 16th.

The Stags enter the SCIAC Championships with three of the top-10 singles players in the West Region. Senior captain Skyler Butts (CMC) ranks first in the West while junior Glenn Hull (CMC) is eighth and junior Daniel Morkovine (CMC) is ninth. Butts and Morkovine are the top-ranked doubles team as well.

This season in conference matches, Stags players have a 35-3 record in singles play and have only lost four doubles matches.
