Highlight Video: 2015-16 CMS Men's Tennis

Look back on some of the highlights from the 2015-16 CMS Men's Tennis season. The Stags went 27-5, won their 11th-straight SCIAC Championships, ran their conference win streak over 100 matches and advanced to the NCAA D-III quarterfinals. Skyler Butts won the NCAA D-III singles national championship.

SCIAC honors All-Academic Team for 2015-16

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was represented by 201 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team. The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and completed one full year at their institution.

It has been another outstanding year for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics. On the largest scale, CMS broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup. During the 2015-16 year, many of the CMS student athletes were honored for their athletic and academic achievements.
Season capped for Butts and Morkovine with All-America awards

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2016 Division III All-America teams and D-III singles national champion Skyler Butts (CMC) has landed on the All-America teams in both singles and doubles, while junior teammate Daniel Morkovine (CMC) joined Butts on the team for doubles.

An outstanding 2015-16 year for CMS Athletics and its student-athletes concluded on Saturday, May 28, with two NCAA Division III individual national championships, one by Skyler Butts '16 in men's tennis singles and the other by Tyra Abraham, a women's track sprinter from Scripps.

Butts named ITA Senior Player of the Year

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2016 Division III regional and national award winners on Wednesday, May 25, at the 2016 Division III NCAA Tennis Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. Skyler Butts (CMC) was named the men’s ITA Senior Player of the Year after having been the No. 1 ranked player in the West Region in singles and doubles all season. Additionally, he was named the West Region’s Senior Player of the Year.
