Four singles, two doubles teams for Stags heading to D-III Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Committee announced on May 7 its selections that will compete in the singles and doubles competition of the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships, May 22-24 in Claremont and CMS has four singles qualifiers and two doubles teams.

In singles, the Stags are represented in the field of 32 by sophomore Skyler Butts, junior captain Joe Dorn, junior Nikolas Marino and junior Warren Wood. The doubles teams of Butts and senior Neel Kotrappa along with Dorn and Wood represent the Stags in the 16-team doubles field.

Four singles selections and two doubles teams are the largest number of qualifiers that CMS has had under Coach Settles' 11-year tenure as head coach of the Stags. In 1983 when the Stags finished second in the nation as a team, five singles players and three doubles teams from that team competed as individuals and doubles teams at the NCAA Championships, which is a record for CMS.

CMS is hosting the 2014 NCAA Division III Tennis Championships in Claremont at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. Team competition runs from May 19-21, while singles and doubles play goes from May 22-24. Draws for the singles/doubles championships will be released on the last day of the team championships.
