TennisRecruiting.net has ranked CMS as having the best recruiting class in Division III for the Class of 2011. The recruiting website also ranked CMS' incoming class as 7th best among mid-major programs nationally. The Stags' 2011 class includes three student-athletes from the San Diego area: five-star recruit Warren Wood (La Jolla Country Day), and four-star recruits Cameron Bernhardt (Rancho Bernardo HS) and Nikolas Marino (Francis Parker HS).

CMS Stags Tennis staged a dramatic comeback to defeat #4 UC Santa Cruz 5-3 in the NCAA West Regional Final on Saturday. Sophomore Alex Johnson (Thousand Oaks, CA) fought back from a 1-5, love-forty deficit and saved six match points in the third set to provide the match clinching victory at #3 singles. CMS advances to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second straight year and third in the last four.

Sophomore Alex Lane (Claremont, CA [pictured]) earned a match-clinching three-set win at #1 singles to give CMS a 5-4 victory over 6th ranked Point Loma Nazarene on Thursday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. CMS finishes the regular season with a 25-3 record and await the NCAA pairings on Monday.

Sophomore Alex Lane (Claremont, CA) captured the Ojai Division III singles title on Sunday defeating UC Santa Cruz's Brian Pybas. Lane became the second Stag in three years to capture the prestigious singles title and is all but assured of holding the #1 singles ranking in the West Region when the new rankings are released.

CMS Men's Tennis won it's sixth straight outright SCIAC title on Saturday, as the Stags defeated 8th ranked Pomona-Pitzer 8-1. CMS swept the doubles and then won five of six singles to earn their 57th straight conference match. CMS Stags Tennis advanced to the final of the SCIAC Championships on Friday with a 7-2 win over #19 Cal Lutheran. The Stags will face #8 Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, just a week after defeating the Sagehens in the last regular season conference dual match.

Sophomore Alex Johnson (Thousand Oaks, CA [pictured]) got the clinching straight set victory at #3 singles, as CMS won the battle of undefeated SCIAC teams and defeated #8 Pomona-Pitzer by an 8-1 margin on Saturday. The Stags close out the conference regular season 6-0 and enter the SCIAC tournament next Friday as the top seeded team.

Wu won his team leading 14th singles dual match of the spring and 17th of the year, and partnered with Zhenya Pereverzin (Fr. - Clackamas, OR) for the Stags' #1 team's fourth straight dual match win.

CMS' #1 doubles team Ronald Wu (Sr. Capt - Los Altos, CA) and Zhenya Pereverzin (Fr. - Clackamas, OR) won their seventh match as a tandem, and then went on to win easily at #4 and #6 singles respectively, as the Stags defeated 30th ranked Gustavus Adolphus College by a 7-2 margin. CMS is now 16-3 on the season and ranked #3 nationally in Division III.

Robbie Erani (Jr. - New York, NY) and Russell Brockett (Sr. - Austin, TX) won at #3 doubles and at #3 and #4 singles to help CMS defeat #5 Washington University in St. Louis. The Stags' 6-3 victory at the Austin Tennis Academy on Sunday morning ended CMS' Texas swing on an up note. CMS went 2-1 on the trip, beating #11 Trinity and #5 Wash U, and losing to #6 UC Santa Cruz.
