Stags Advance to SCIAC Tourney Final

CMS Men’s Tennis defeated Caltech 5-0 and Pomona-Pitzer 8-1, advancing to the final of the SCIAC tournament. Senior Russell Chidester (Austin, TX [pictured right]) won at #2 doubles and #5 singles to pace the Stags in the first of their two dual matches on Friday. Chidester was one of five Stags to get wins in both singles and doubles. The Stags will face Redlands in the final on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Redlands East Valley High School.

Other Stags to win in singles and doubles were junior Mikey Lim (Honolulu, HI), senior captain Lawrence Wang (Orange, CA), junior Spencer MacColl (Greenbrae, CA), and freshman Robbie Erani (New York, NY). Lim won his 17th singles match of the season at #3, and partnered Wang at #1 doubles for their second consecutive win. Wang won his 17th at #1 singles, and remained perfect in conference singles play. MacColl’s two wins moved his record to 3-1 in singles and 5-0 in doubles on the season. Erani avenged a loss from five days earlier at #2 singles, after teaming with Ronald Wu (So. – Los Altos, CA) for a victory at #2 doubles.

In advancing to the SCIAC Tournament final, CMS extends it’s conference win streak to 40 matches, spanning four years. CMS’ is now 9-0 in conference and 24-4 overall. The Stags will face Redlands in the final on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Redlands East Valley High School.
