Bio

A former NCAA Division I swimmer at Rider University in New Jersey, where he set three school records, Scott Player enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving program in 2020-21. 

Player joined CMS after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Chino Hills High School for the past five months, and as a lead swim coach with Chino Hills Aquatics for the last year. While with Chino Hills High School, he conducted practices for varsity swimmers, provided stroke instruction to swimmers of all skill levels, and organized swim meets under the direction of the head coach. 

Player returned to his swimming roots after getting his law degree in May of 2013 from Pace Law School in White Plains, New York, earning a juris doctor with a certificate in international law. He was a volunteer law clerk in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office after graduating, and then worked for Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies in San Diego for two years. While pursuing a career in swimming, Player also has worked as a volunteer attorney in the health consumer action center of the Legal Aid Society of Orange County since February of 2017.

A 2010 cum laude graduate of Rider, Player earned his degree in political science with a dual minor in law & justice and history. He was a four-year letterwinner in swimming for the Broncs, setting a new school record in the 100-yard butterfly, as well as being a part of two school relay records. He also competed in the 50 free at the US Open in Washington, D.C. prior to his senior year.
