Five Stags Earn CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Five members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team earned Individual Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America for the 2022-23 season.

Frank Applebaum earned first-team Scholar All-America honors for the second year in a row, while Henrik Barck, Anderson Breazeale, Thayer Breazeale and Ethan Sattley earned spots on the second team. 

To be named to the First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50 and participate in their respective national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher and met the "B" time standard for the national championship or participated in a diving zone qualification meet. 

Applebaum adds the Scholar All-America honor to a growing list of accolades, which included repeating as the national champion in the 200-yard butterfly. He was also named a third-team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators. Anderson Breazeale and Thayer Breazeale were both named Academic All-District by CSC, as was senior Alec Vercruysse. 

Collectively, the Stags also earned Scholar All-America Team honors from the CSCAA for carrying a 3.48 GPA as a team, well above the minimum 3.0 standard. 

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
