Griffith Finishes Third in One-Meter to Earn All-SCIAC honors at SCIAC Championships

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Jack Griffith finished in third place in the one-meter dive to earn All-SCIAC accolades, and Cyrus Gaylord was right behind in fourth as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team had five divers in action on the first day of the SCIAC Championships on Saturday at Cal Lutheran.

Griffith finished with 475.75 points to place behind only Samuel Solomon of Caltech and Benjamin Willett of Pomona-Pitzer. Gaylord was fourth with 439.05 points, just in front of Liam Gilbert of the Sagehens with 430.35 points. 

Ben Smith, Abai Houser and Luke Lenhart all qualified for the finals as well and came in sixth, seventh and eighth, as the Stags had five of the top eight divers in the one-meter to build an early lead in the SCIAC Championships. 

The second day of the diving championships will take place tomorrow with the men's three-meter, while the swimming portion of the championships will be held from Wednesday-Saturday in La Mirada.
