Men's Swimming and Diving Moves Into 10th in Latest National Poll

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After a convincing 82-point win over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team has moved into the top 10 in the latest national poll from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America, holding down the No. 10 position.

CMS moved up two spots from No. 12 in the latest poll, knocking Pomona-Pitzer down from No. 9 to No. 14 in the process. Emory ranked first, followed by Denison, Johns Hopkins, Kenyon and Chicago in the top five. MIT, WashU, NYU and Carnegie Mellon place in the No. 6-9 spots.

The Stags set 13 new Axelrood Pool records on their way to the win over Pomona-Pitzer, including all four relays that were held. Anderson Breazeale was a part of five new pool records on his way to winning the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week Award, including three individual (200 free, 500 free, 200 back) and two relay (200 medley, 400 free).

Marco Conati also had two new Axelrood records in the 50 free and the 100 free, as did Lucas Lang in the 1000 free and the 1650 free. Nick Tekieli set an individual record in the 100 back, and was part of all four relay teams that set new records, swimming the anchor leg of the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free, and the backstroke leg of the 400 medley.

Walter Limm broke his own school record in the 100 breast, and was a part of both medley relay teams that established new facility standards.

CMS will have a month off before resuming action on Jan. 7 at the California Baptist Distance Meet.
