Hollimon & Presti qualify for NCAA Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa – Freshman Kendall Hollimon (CMC) and junior Maia Presti (SC) qualified for the NCAA Championships in Shenandoah, Texas March 15-18 after competing in the NCAA Region 2 Diving Championships over the weekend. Six CMS divers traveled to Grinnell College and performed 11 dives for each the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions.

On Friday, Hollimon won the men's 1M with a score of 478.50. He beat the next performer by just 10 points in the very competitive matchup. Hollimon's 23.50 degree of difficulty was the highest in the field. The entire field of male divers in the regional competition was freshmen. For the women on the 3M board, senior Carli Lessard (HMC) was the highest finisher at 404.50 in fifth place.

Hollimon repeated as champion on Saturday, this time winning by more than 50 points. Again, he had the highest degree of difficulty at 26.00 and successfully qualified to compete at the NCAA Championships.

Presti also qualified for the National Championships after placing second on the 1M board. The junior had a 23.00 difficulty rating and earned 464.80 points. The champion on board boards was Sarah Hayhurst from Centre College.

Next, Hollimon and Presti will join a cadre of Stags and Athenas to compete at the DIII National Championships hosted by the City of Shenandoah and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
